Welcome, Bienvenue, Namaste, Ni Hao to the Mauritius Chinese Museum website. The Museum wishes to thank all those who have contributed to the realization of this Chinese Museum hosted in the Fock Diack Pagoda, Remy Ollier Street, Chinatown, Port Louis.

Inaugurated in February 2008 and already visited by thousands of young children and our elder mauritians. Hundreds of tourists from various countries have had the opportunity to already discover this treasure when they were in Mauritius. It is now time to move the Chinese Museum into the next step allowing overseas mauritians and people from all over the world to visit the museum by just a click through its website.

The management has also met many mauritians established in other countries who whilst visiting the museum could not leave without a tear in their eyes and sorrow in their heart. They left their mother country many years ago and their past lives and old souvenirs came back to them when seeing the various objects and history of the museum.

Nowadays in Mauritius, we have noticed that our younger generation are loosing the culture, tradition and even their cultural language.  Henry Loo’s quote and belief is “The best way to predict the future is to Design it”. Then he states that it is better for one to know his past before creating the future.

The real beauty of Mauritius, is not only the beach, the spectacular turquoise lagoons, the beautiful landscape, the rainbows and neither the climate, but the diversity of its people and different cultures and religions.

Henry Loo strongly believes in leaving a legacy for the future and also believes that it is our duty to leave something for the society and coming generations.

The Chinese Museum has developed various themes from the History of Port Louis, the Immigration of Chinese in Mauritius, the History of Temples, the Chinese roots, the origin of Chinese Surnames and others.
